Death of the Incandescent bulb
Another sign that LED lighting is revolutionizing the lighting industry as Toshiba halted its 120 year history of producing incandescent bulbs to concentrait on LED technology. It is interesting because just last year several major cities were discussing outlawing incandescent bulbs and Australia aparently is actually begining regulation of them.

Until they make an less efficient yellowish heat generating LED – they’ll never truly replace incandescent.
Thirty years ago while I was in the military the government spent millions to take all the fluorescent lights out of aircraft hangers and put in the new mercury vapor type lights. These light had an inner and outer glass housing. The outer layer made of quartz glass to stop UV rays. When it developed a crack of course the UV rays passed thru to the mechanics below.
Recently (Still working for the government) the government spent millions to remove the mercury vapor lights and put in the new better fluorescent lights.
Ok, that is funny. It doesn’t surprise me that those things went full circle.
