MIIS Alliance: Members too small?
Changes to the MIIS Alliance, while pretty dramatic, are not unexpected since all the members of the alliance are of a size to make them possible aquisition targets.
Looks like Oblix has dropped out of the MIIS Alliance a direct result of their aquistion by Oracle. This didn’t really suprise me since Oracle has it’s own agenda and it doesn’t seem to include Microsoft. While a recient press release from NetPro seemed to down play the departure the functionality Oblix contributed to the alliance will be diffult to replace.
Amid the bad news there was some good news for the Alliance. There were two new members added to the group. The new members RSA and Nakisa both, in my opinion, could be aqusitions targets in their own right.
What wasn’t mentioned was that Quest Software announced last week its intention to aquire Vintela. It has yet to be seen what impact this will have on the Alliance.
