Thor attempting to overcome limitations in their workflow
Thor announced a new alliance with Bridgstream (www.bridgestream.com) to try and overcome self declaried limitations in their enterprise approval workflow system. The limitations seem mostly to be around the scalability of Thor’s solution.
In essence the Thor workflow didn’t scale and they needed some way to better control assignment of entitlments. Rather than an approval process which presents many technical hurdles in a distributed enterprise they are looking to make their solution work by bolting on a 3rd party business role engine.
The promise of role based administration is one of the largly unfulfiled promises remaining in IT today. I’m not confident Thor has the right mixture of technology here, but it sounds like a good idea.
